Mirage Jaguar/Mercury 2.5 EFI, Steve Zuckerman Old Hickory, TN

Details make the difference on this "Extreme Machine".
Steve knows how to make a boat run fast and look
good.
The wild paint scheme was shot over the original plain
white gel coat by Chris Stemmer of Air Magic. Custom lettering was
painted by George Williams of Visual Edge.
Steve uses all Gaffrig gauges including 120 MPH GPS
speedo with recall, 12,000 RPM tach with recall, dual EGT, trim,
water pressure, and fuel. Sea Star Pro hydraulic steering is topped
off with a CRT three spoke steering wheel and trim system. Hanging
off of the Hydrodynamics jackplate is a '97 2.5 EFI SS Merc that's
been ported by G-Force Technologies. The Brucato SVS has been modified
to run the nitrous/alcohol/lean burn by Nitrox. The motor also features
a lightened flywheel,Taylor Marine reed cages, and a Steckbauer
gearcase.
The show quality look extends to the trailer as well
with custom fenders, step pads, plating, swing away tongue, paint,
and tool box by Bill Roller Trailers.
Don't be fooled into thinking this is just a show
boat. Steve runs in the KDBA and has clocked a 9.70 ET @ 116 MPH.
Steve just picked up a Quartermaster as his next
project, and needs a good home for his Jaguar. email
Steve.
Triad/Mercury 3.0 Litre Drag Motor, Larry Smith Eustis, Florida

Larry subscribes to the "Bigger Hammer" theory.
Starting with a cast off 225 3 litre "fishing" motor
as a foundation, Larry used all his experience and tricks learned
from his winning 2.5 motors.
Lightened crank, rods, pistons, and flywheel.
A6 ECU, and stator ignition modified by Sean Hill of Rapair.
Crankcase injection with Kinsler injectors and fuel rail.
Special Boyesen reeds and custom made Brucato SVS.
"Secret" porting and exhaust tuner.
All this power sits on a custom made adapter plate
mated to a Taylor Marine 12 inch exhaust housing and Mercury champ
swivel bracket.
Larry has on hand 3 Steckbauer gearcases with different
ratios to choose from.
Larry gives big thanks to Danny McManis, Danny Ludwig,
Dorsey Frabott, and Doc Weizenecker who've supplied constant help,
and special thanks to Karen Smith who shares his dedication to this
wild project.
Smith Racing is sponsored by Credit Auto Sales of Eustis, FL.
Look for big things out of Larry in 2001. He's a 1996
APBA Hall of Champions Driver and he's taking his efforts to a new
level.
Mirage Jaguar/Mercury 2.4 EFI, Andy Storer Jupiter, Florida

This clean 1992 Mirage Jaguar is a real sleeper with
it's 2.4 EFI.
The lightweight layup and SVS enhanced motor have
put the hurtin' on a lot of "fast" boats.
With a 30 inch prop Andy finds 110 mph with ease,
not bad for an old 2.4!
Andy can be found (but seldom caught)at most hot boat
gatherings in Florida.
HydroStream Viking/Mercury 2.4 Drag Motor, Frank Fones Fort Myers,
Florida

When Frank began his restoration of this 1978 Viking
it was a basket case.
Starting with a hull that looked like 80 grit sand
paper, Frank spent months repairing, filling, and sanding it back
into shape. When he was satisfied, he shot the beautiful paint scheme
himself.
No detail was overlooked in the rigging. The modified
short shaft 2.4 Drag motor sits on a Bob's Machine Shop hydraulic
jack plate and runs a Sportmaster gear case. Future plans include
upgrading to a 2.5 powerhead.
On most weekends that Frank isn't working on his
boat, He can be found tearing up the water with his friends on the
Caloosahatchee river.
This boat is for sale. For info: fbfhiperf@earthlink.net.
Polaris/Mercury 2.5 EFI, DeWayne Ogden, Jesup, Georgia

Yes, that's a real 2.5 Merc EFI shoehorned into this
Polaris.
DeWayne Ogden who is a long time truck pulling champion,
believes anything can be improved with more horsepower! He's got
just that with a Merc V6 built by Larry Mumford of Outboard Performance.
Look close and you'll see that the motor has to lay
on its side to fit under the seat. Besides adding more power, the
addition of a Brucato SVS also helped solve some clearance problems.
Power is transmitted to the stock pump through a gilmer belt drive.
If the sharp looking graphics don't give this rocket
ship away, The unmistakable rumble of the monster Merc puts all
other water rats on alert.
The acceleration of this water toy has to be seen
to be believed.
DeWayne says top speed is whatever it takes to be
in front!
Allison 2001, Mumford Racing Team, Baxley, Georgia

The father and son team of Larry Mumford and Kevin
Mumford set the standard for outboard drag racing in the deep south.
Kevin makes it look easy, driving through the quarter mile in less
than 10 seconds at speeds approaching 120mph ( Don't try this at
home ). The Mumfords race in the Pro Fuel Division at a weight of
1250 lbs. As chief mechanic, Larry keeps Kevin winning with 380
horsepower of alcohol burning Mercury power! Kevin's been known
to wind it up to 10,800 rpm when necessary! Always looking for an
edge, they've been running and winning with the Brucato SVS since
our first prototype in 1995.
Kevin's 1998 accomplishments include:
Induction into the 1998 APBA Hall of Champions
APBA National Champion
APBA High-Point Champion
Regional & Divisional Champion
Tennessee Drag Boat Association High-Point & Grand
National Champion
Larry keeps busy building Hi-Performance motors at
his business: Outboard Performance in Baxley, Georgia (912) 367-5365
Gambler 209, Charles Campbell, North Carolina

This sharp looking Gambler is powered by a Merc 225
EFI 3.0 litre.
Charles' need for speed led him to install a Brucato
SVS,Boysen reeds, high compression heads, and modified exhaust.
He is currently hammering the rev limiter while turning a 29 1/2
Spinnelli prop.
Future plans include a Sportmaster lower unit and
a 31 Spinnelli. If you want to run with Charles down the lake, you'd
better be packing some serious Horsepower!
Hydra Sports, Tony Brucato, Florida

This 1987 vintage bass boat owned by Yours truly,
has been reincarnated as a lake rocket.
The hull has been blueprinted, with strakes added
for better lift and handling. The transom and stringers have been
replaced and reinforced to handle big power, and weight was removed
wherever possible.
The 1997 225 PRO MAX features a Rapair 16 amp charging
system, Lightened flywheel by JSRE, Mercury forged pistons, SPS
rod bolts, Mild porting, and of course an SVS intake.
